Day 4 - Piazza del Popolo

This was our first stop the very first day - a huge square with several interesting things to look at.
Here you can find the twin churches of Santa Maria in Montesanto (left, built 1662-75) and Santa Maria dei Miracoli (right, built 1675-79). Between them is Via del Corso - the main shopping street that runs all the way to Piazza Venezia - the central hub of Rome, and Altare della Patria - a monument built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of unified Italy.

There are also some beautiful statues and an obelisk at this piazza, but I'll show you those another day :).
