Day 5 - Leisure

Mr and I recently decided to turn part of our attic into a gym. I was a bit surprised at the suggestion at first, but hey, what the heck! I haven't been to a gym for years, and if I had one at home, it might just be convenient enough to actually go to. So, we set up a training bike up there, a bench press, some weights, dumbbells, and... a punching bag? Yep, we've really got one! I was the last person on earth to think Mr the type to go for one. Though, I have to say, I like that you can still get surprised by someone even after 11 years of living together.

So, now we've got our own little gym to go to, and the best part is; we get to pick the music :). Today was Metallica (Black Album), followed by Tiger Army (Music from the Regions Beyond). Good stuff!

Cheers

  1. I have to say that it took me a while to figure out what on earth the picture was about, but once I got it, it packs quite a punch! (see what I did there?) Nice action and great colour impact.

And do you use the gym? We used to have one in our old house and my husband never really used it much. Now he has a punch bag in the garage, and uses it very occasionally. These things are doomed to disuse if you are not the ultimate in keenness. Hope yours is more used than ours was!

    1. The gym has been up in the attic for two weeks now, and we've used it two times. I was sore after the first time and I am just as sore now haha. I hope we'll be able to keep it up, I've been wanting to get into shape for a while now, but you know how it is - lots of stuff at work, and you never really feel like going when you're off. When you get there, there are people everywhere, and the music is the same boring pop-songs on repeat all the time... or not, who knows? They all sound the same to me.

Anyway, the gym at home has a better chance of getting me to work out. And it's actually been kind of fun. Just my hubby and me, the music of our choice, and no lines to the machines. Also, I can go up there without having to fix myself up whatsoever. Niiice! I hope the good start lasts. :)

  2. This one threw me, because of the orange half... the bag, I had to come here for you to tell me that part. Love the motion of the gloved hand :)

  3. Intriguing, I am glad I visited to find out what it was. Well done on capturing the movement and keep up the good work in your gym!

  4. I probably wouldn't have picked up on what it was for a while of looking at it, but now you've explained, I can easily see it. Very cool how half the image is blurred and the other half isn't. I kind of wish the bag was either more on an angle or completely vertical though - at the moment it's just off square just enough to distract me.
In terms of getting motivated enough to exercise, I would like to think I would be motivated to use a home gym, but lately it seems I haven't had enough time (I know, poor excuse) to go out for a simple walk!

    1. Yes! tell me about it! I used to walk to work before I switched jobs and now I'be been a couch potatoe for about half a year. My muscles are screaming for mercy after each time in our new gym haha,

  5. Wow, a gym in your home, huh? I will have to come back in six months to see if you still use it. I have found most people that keep it up would also keep it up at a commercial gym, but this makes it more convenient. Many who would drop out of a regular gym, may have trouble at home. I think I would not be able. Several years ago, I went to a gym 3 times a week; now I'm just a lazy lump on a log. HA!
I like the image though, as the motion hitting the bag is really punchy and the orange color completes the feel!

    1. Please do! I wonder the same thing myself, but I hope we'll be able to keep it up. The view from where the bike stands is beautiful though - we've put it right in front of one of our large windows facing the valley. Hopefully that will keep me going up there ;). Both Mr and me used to work out quite a lot before too - that is before we met haha (11 years ago). After that we've been spending that time together instead. That makes me hopeful that we will manage to continue using our home gym - spending quality time together :)

  6. Good luck, I've always hated the gym. But I cycle to work most days so I think I get a good amount of exercise without it.
Love the action shot and bright colours.

  7. Great combination of action and the abstract look. I love pictures that are not in your face and make me look several times to find all the details, story and layers.
