This drink is very typical of Sweden, 10 points to to anyone who can guess what it is. We usually drink it around Christmas and Easter, it's a Swedish tradition and I used to long for the holidays just because I would get to drink this. I'll give you one more clue; it's made from juniper berries and it tastes sweet with a bit of a bitter aftertaste. Can you guess what it is yet?
It's Julmust! And not the ridiculously sweet soft drink version, but the real thing, made from real berries in a small "musteri" in Brunneby. Good stuff, I just love it with lemon :)
Cheers!

Today we had tomato soup for breakfast again, yum! We make it from scratch using our home grown tomatoes and herbs, and It's very ...
Never heard of it, is it alcoholic? I love trying new things, but I don't suppose it's possible to get this in the UK.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo, I don't know anything about the drink so I can't say if it's obvious what it is, but the little water drop is a lovely touch.
Thank you, I'm glad you like it.
DeleteNope, I've never heard of alcoholic julmust. I think they sell the soft drink version at Ikea along with other Swedish stuff. Ikeas of the UK would probably have it too, if you want to taste it :)
Lovely picture but of course the mug and lemon don't really give the drink away. I would have thought perhaps Kwast, a drink for when you have a cold (http://www.dekooktips.com/recepten/warme-wintrdr.htm)
ReplyDeleteActually, it'a a transparent wine glass and not a mug, you can find the edge of it if you look for it, though the DOF makes it harder ;).
DeleteI've never heard of Kwast before, it looks yummy.
Having looked at it on different monitors I have found it to be easier to see on some of them. Hmmm... Maybe I can enhance the edge a bit in post-ed to make it come out a bit more :)
DeleteI've never heard of that, but the low angle and great lighting are very effective. I thought it was a mug of tea with lemon. Cool shot.
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was wondering why you would add lemon to coffee (Sweden's national drink). :D
ReplyDeleteHaha, now that's a thought ;P
DeleteMost intriguing, all of it. These drinks you are all talking about are a mystery to me. And as for that being a clear glass... that escapes me as well... at least I could figure the lemon :)
ReplyDeleteSounds lovely as is this photo - the crop and shallow dof with smooth background is great
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very interesting drink! I like the odd angle of this, and the light through the lemon is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI've never had it but it sounds good especially with Lemon. I like sour things. Like the photo too! :-) Maggie
