17:13 - Friday Treat

I love Fridays, for obvious reasons. Each Friday I like to sit up late and tinker with stuff on my computer, whilst treating myself for having made it through the week. Ah, I love Fridays!

This is something that is very typical for Sweden - the "Semla". It's a bun filled with almond paste and whipped cream. You can find it in every bakery between November and March, it has even got a day of it's own called "Fettisdagen" which occurs the 9th of February this year - yey, an other excuse to get one, they're so yummy!

Happy Friday!

  1. Another fika moment? You have a good choice of teas and coffee.
I wonder if you combined a grunge effect on the left with your "standard" border.

    1. Yep, we Swedes are sort of like Hobbits in that sense haha. My brother always complains when visiting my patents - "eat? again??", yes we do have a lot of little in between meals (though I usually forego them)

Grunge effect? Nope, that was simply a shadow that has been enhanced a bit :)

  4. A great setup! Your collection of paraphernalia to go with the bun is awesome! Looks like something I need to do when tinkering on my computer. I usually do it with a glass of wine on Fridays! A wonderful still life!

    1. Thank you Kim! The wine came later :). I like to sit with a glass too.

  5. I think you should have included more tea in that shot...
What do you eat from March to November then?

  6. This shot is gorgeous and oh so tasty! I love almond paste and the last two years have found and eaten :-) the Dutch Kerststol on special at the local specialty Dutch shop. Your tea and containers make a great background and add interest.

  7. Hummm, somehow I thought you were a bit of a health nut. Although what is on the plate is beautiful, I am not assured of its health aspects :)

    1. Oh I am, just not all the time. Life is just not worth living without the occasional Semla ;)
