We're leaving Amiens' Cathedral now and heading for a charming neighborhood called St-Leu. The area is situated right by a stream and several canals. The houses there are adorable and some of them even have their very own bridges that you cross to get to their entrances. A great thing about this place is that there are many places where you can sit down to eat right by the water (second picture). We had dinner here on the evening when we arrived, right before the light show. The food was you would expect from a tourist hot spot - not your best choice - but the location was wonderful. The top shot is actually pretty much the view from where we sat, only I shot it the next day.
We're finally making some headway with my medical situation. I've been ill for over two years now, and now we've got a new find that is something that could finally point us to a "solution". I put the quotation marks there because I'm fairly sure this condition of mine is chronic, but nonetheless I feel a huge sense of relief! Having no answers for this long has been hard. There has been many times when I've put my hopes to different theories, but up until now, everything has been hopelessly inconclusive. Having, at the very least, one part of the puzzle feels like huge win! It means that I will finally get referred to the right department and meet the right specialist. So, tonight I'm celebrating! It might sound strange, celebrating that you've found out something is amiss with your body, but I am happy, oh so happy! Having part of the answer is such a win!/MrsHjort
Nice shot from the restaurant. Better shot from the bridge - of the restaurant (if you have any more, maybe enter in the "frame It" contest?). Finger's crossed on the "Solution." Maybe the doc will tell you that participating in things like BotS (new season next month) will help your condition even more (yeah, right - ha). ;-)

DeleteReally pretty pictures, both of them! Nice compositions, with framing and leading lines. Personally I'd go a bit lighter on the vignettes, which seem to weigh down the subjects to my mind, unless that was your intention. But beautiful images nonetheless! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Personally, I love vignettes and almost always use them to some degree. I think they draw you into a picture better. I see what you mean though, maybe I could have made them slightly less heavy :)

DeleteThose buildings are obviously very old, very large and I imagine very cold as well. It seems as though all the flowers and nicetys to soften the feel. Amazing to think how long they have been there, and all the people who have come to visit over many many years. MadamMtnLion
ReplyDeleteYes it looks like they might be a bit drafty. The office that I work in is in my home town's version of those houses - one of few that hasn't been claimed by fire throughout the years. It's quite chilly in the winters, so we dress warmly, and sometimes we bring out the extra heaters :)
DeleteThese are my favorites so far. Your photos have transported me to these beautiful European cities. So nice while I'm sitting here in the US Midwest. Makes me want to get on an plane and visit....and soon!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should! Europe is beautiful! I highly recommend visiting one of the oldest capitals, like Rome, where history is all around you. Its truly an experience.

I especially like the second shot because you can see the fronts of the shops and I like how you framed your view between the plants. The grass seems to add some mystery as to what's across the way. Very lovely, I'm sure it was better in person but I'm so glad you took us along with you via photos!
