Day 15 - "Confessions of a Tomboy"

I wonder how many of you will recognize this, maybe not those of you who live outside of Scandinavia, but most Swedes will know this trademark. This is a huge sign outside a well known clothes chain. I have to admit, I wouldn't know it from this shot - I'm just not that interested in shopping. "Hate it" would be more accurate. I prefer to do my shopping online if I can; it's fast, there are no lines and, best of all, it's not crowded!

In fact, I've never been a girly girl. I don't have that many women friends and those that I hang with are not that girly either. I love math and science, or even better, science fiction! I play a lot of computer games (currently I play Dragon Age 2) and I am quite crafty with a hammer and nail (when we redid our kitchen I assembled all of the cabinets myself). I never paint my nails, I don't have a million shoes (or bags) and I couldn't care less about the latest celebrity gossip. Oh, and I like whisky too! Cheers my friends! Now it's your turn to confess ;)

  1. Firstly, a fantastically strong image with great colour and shapes, and the portion of it you chose to show us looks great! Lovely diagonal.

I think I am a lot like you. I am not girly girl either - I also assemble any furniture things we get, am not bad with a hammer, although I don't partake of home jobs except the garden reticulation, pool maintenance and gardening (which I don't particularly like). I figure I have to leave something for my husband to do, so he changes the lightbulbs, although I do know how to do it! ;-)
I wear the same pair of shoes to work every day till they die, and have only one handbag that I carry till it dies (and then I usually get it repaired, because I can't be bothered going out shopping to try and find another one exactly the same because that's too hard, and changing to something completely different is also too hard when the one I have works just the way I want it with the right number of pockets.)
I like maths and science, and science fiction too, and used to play computer games, but now my computer time is all about photography. I also don't care about celebrity gossip, but catch up on it with six month old magazines whenever I go to the doctor.

However, I don't like whisky and I do paint my nails when they are nice and long all at the same time (they grow really fast and are very hard, so why not?), but these days, the housework and gardening mentioned above means I don't get to do that too often cos they are always breaking...

    (You asked for confessions!)

    1. Oh goodie, what a long comment to read! We have a lot in common it seems. I also use handbags and shoes "to death", or to when my cats kill them - the oldest one peed on my precious computer bag a month ago. Only recently did i find a new one that was up to my specs. Haha

I cannot have long fingernails, although I think they're very pretty. Maybe it's a remnant from when I worked in a factory six years ago. I had hands like a smith's back then - my nails would get greasy and black from all dirty chainsaw parts each day, and I had to keep them short as to not be grossed out by them. I've tried to let them grow since then of course, but I always end up cutting them sooner or later haha. Silly, I know!

  2. I'm not going to confess anything. At my age, I've changed style and looks so often that it would take the rest of this page.
Now to this fantastic photo that is an eye-popper. Wonderful impact.

    1. No need, confessions are voluntary, although that's a story I'd love to read :). Thank you Thelma!

  3. Ha, you sound like the perfect catch in this day and age, Im sure Mr H appreciates it all (I tried to introduce my wife to video games, and the only one which ever caught was Tombraider - which is a good start :-) ) I can see how the colours and shapes in this shot are part of a logo, very vibrant and bold, I think you've captured a nice aspect of it.

    1. Thank you :), how nice of you to say. Mr and me have a lot in common, we met at a party held by our mutual friends (who tried to fix us up btw, good job!). We never got the chance to really talk then, but the next day Mr called me an we talked for hours! We've been inseparable ever since :) and we're on out 10th year now.

Have you ever played FFIX? That's something your wife might enjoy. It may be "old" but it has charm like no other game ever. Mr and me have a lot of inside jokes from it :)

  4. I cannot figure out the brand, then again I did not spent much time shopping while travelling Scandinavia last summer ;), but I do like the combination of shapes and colours.

    1. It's from the MQ store. Not a place where I usually shop either :)
